“All music has merit” so says aged relative to his young grandson at the start of this enjoyable concert, celebrating music through this century. Split into four distinct groups of twenty-five years we were given glimpses of Music Hall, 1st World War numbers and an impressive Charleston routine. Then came Musical Blitz with naturally 2nd World War memories complete with uniforms, flags and splendidly patriotic songs. After the interval came Foot-tappers and Energy-sappers from ‘Flower Power1 to Teddy Boys, Beatles and an amusing Abba routine.

The evening ended with WOS sings and boy, can they sing when they put their minds to it! Accompanied throughout by keyboards, Guitar and Percussion, the pace was never allowed to flag for an instant, bringing us well-remembered numbers.

Each section was beautifully dressed, with great attention to detail, with all members doing their bit I understand. Attractive sets were designed and constructed by the society.

An evening to remember of which Winterboume can be proud
