Congratulations must be awarded to the Society for giving their all in the characters they portrayed: to the Director who had the imagination to up-date the opera without offending too many fans(!), the MD who gently guided you through the performance, the hard-worked Accompanist who doggedly worked away providing sterling support throughout, and to the lighting technician, who produced such attractive effects. Bravo to all!
It was such a pleasure to meet all the performers on stage afterwards and to congratulate the Principals personally and I heartily commend the energy and vitality you all projected along with some fine singing. Your costumes were attractive and well planned, allowing us such fun in naming the various “Lords” who were performing incognito! The “Punk” Fairies were certainly an innovation, as was the rap music accompanying them. If I have one criticism it would be that the opening “rap” was overlong but I heartily approved of the Finale effect and thought it gave a great finish to the production.
It is always a joy to visit your productions and this was no exception.
