Songs, supper and superb talent sums up this evenings entertainment.
Kicking off to a fabulous start with excerpts from Calamity Jane and then with a change of mood we were treated to songs from Godspell and rounding the evening off we had Salad Days.
Throughout the evening a narrator informed us where the songs fitted into the story line, a great idea for those not so familiar with these productions. My favourite section was Calamity Jane but the gorgeous voice leading “Prepare Ye” in Godspeli sent shivers down my spine and the comedic Cleopatra from Salad Days was a hoot. Throughout the evening we were treated to splendid soloists and the chorus work was sheer delight especially “Black Hills” and “Day by Day”.
Kate Robson at the piano worked hard and well and the MD even stopped conducting to take to the stage to impress us with her singing. This society is now planning a full show later in the year and after this – success is predicted!
